Community Empowerment
Community Empowerment is a process where people get empowered by giving them authority or power to make decision and take action in order to help them enhance their skills. This process later is eventually hoped to improve their life quality. This becomes one of the four pillars that underlay CSR program in Badak LNG. The implementation of this pillar aims as an effort to help people achieve autonomy particularly in social and economic sector.
- LESTARI BAHARI
Lumbung Ekonomi Sukses Terpadu & Mandiri Berbasis Hasil Maritim (LESTARI BAHARI) is a community empowerment program that processes marine products generated through the Waste-Free Ocean for a Future Fit Society program. This sub-program focuses on boiling anchovies and processing them into flour that can be used as animal feed concentrate. The flour is produced from dried fish waste.
- GAUTAMA
Program GAUTAMA (Galeri Usaha Utama Masyarakat) is a company's commitment to empowering Enterprises, so they can grow, develop, and become economically independent. Gautama has offline shop and try to develop café called Gautama Café.
- MENARA MARINA
Menuju Nelayan Ramah Lingkungan yang Mandiri dan Sejahtera (MENARA MARINA) is an empowerment program for people residing in RT 17, Tihi Tihi Village. This floating village offers a beautiful and unique seascape as well as an abundant resource of seaweed utilized by the community to develop its tourism and seaweed-based product. The village’s pristine underwater scenery is one of its unique features that attract visitors to Tihi Tihi village.
- SALIN SWARA
Sampah Keliling Swadaya Masyarakat (Salin Swara) is a community empowerment program that integrates waste bank and community groups in Bontang to alleviate the city’s waste management issue through waste segregation and processing. There are six waste banks that are involved in the Salin Swara program namely, Bank Sampah Ceria, Telihan Recycle, Bank Sampah Selangan Berseri, Bank Sampah Lembah Berseri, Bank Sampah Masdarling, dan Tanjung Mamat Fiberglass.
- ANPERNIK
Pahlawan Perbaikan Elektronik (ANPERNIK) or heroes of the electronic repair, is a youth empowerment initiative for young people that has technical skill specifically in the field of electronic reparation in Bontang. This program intends to help the youth by providing business opportunity for them through electronic reparation service for household and office.
Capacity Building Program
It is a program aimed at fulfilling the needs of the community to increase the capacity of both their formal and non-formal knowledge and skills.
- Badak Excellence Scholarship (BESCA)
Badak Excellence Scholarship (BESCA) is extended program of Badak scholarship program (BAFCO The Badak Excellence Scholarship (BESCA) is a rebranding of the Badak Scholarship Program (BAFCO). BESCA targets students in Bontang City with academic achievement and prioritizes those from economically disadvantaged families to continue their studies at VIDATRA Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. The program aims to provide access to adequate education for children from economically and socially disadvantaged families.
- CIRCLE
CIRCLE (Community Inclusive Learning) is a capacity building program for local communities through skills training and certification programs to improve the competence and competitiveness of the local workforce, as well as opening up wider job opportunities in the industrial sector.
- Be-Fair
Be-Fair (Badak Education Fair) is an educational activity initiated by Badak LNG and PIONEER (Perwira Participation Volunteer). Through this program, students are equipped with school materials and new insights beyond textbooks, introduction to the LNG process, environmental issues, the wonders of astronomy, self-development that builds character, etc.
Charity Program
One of the pillars of CSR / community Development that is offered is charity, which is an activity carried out by the company to provide voluntary assistance to someone or group in need. This activity is usually in the form of providing assistance for maintenance costs for the community and support event activities.
In conducting this charity activity, Badak LNG first conducts an assessment or assessing the feasibility of providing assistance. several things that Badak LNG consider when doing charity are :
- Distance between community groups and companies (if in Ring 1 then more prioritized)
- Number of beneficiaries
- The effect of providing assistance for company.
As well as infrastructure assistance, Badak LNG Charity’s Program has also progressed over time and also in coordination with the Bontang City Government. That is more emphasis on programs that support sports development, youth, cultural arts and religious communities to help the government in increasing human resources in the Bontang City area.
Then to make a program in the field of sports development, youth, cultural arts and religious need the following analysis :
- Establish a regular / continuous community communication forum Badak LNG
- Providing limited assistance both in physical form and activities
- Fostering one of the leading sports
- Sponsor local and national sporting events
- Assistance with renovation of houses of worship
Infrastructure Program
At the beginning of the establishment of Badak LNG in Bontang around the 1970s, the initial phase of the CSR program undertaken by Badak LNG was infrastructure development. Various active infrastructures have been built by Badak LNG to facilitate community access, for example roads, markets, hospitals, and various other public facilities. Then in the next phase that is when Bontang has formed an Administrative City, the role of the Badak LNG in City development is more on the development of its human resources through the empowerment and capacity building program.
Currently in developing infrastructure in Bontang, the Badak LNG is coordinating with the Government and the people of Bontang City through Bapelitbang. In the preparation of the CSR / Comdev work program, Bapelitbang formed a CSR forum aimed at coordinating between companies in Bontang in carrying out the program. The purpose of this CSR forum is to coordinate with each other so that there are no overlapping programs, and to make the distribution of program beneficiaries real.
The implementation of Badak LNG’s CSR programs in infrastructure are divided into 2 (two) activities:
- Project
This assistance is given in ready-made form. The work is carried out entirely by Badak LNG and the recipient is not involved in the work. For example, road construction and posyandu
- Participation
This assistance is given in financial and material forms that are participatory. The Badak LNG monitors the use of the funds provided by directly observing the site and requesting reports on work activities. For example the construction of communal toilets as support KOTAKU (City without Slums).
